Pete Paquette’s “Rio” Showreel!

Check out the blog of my buddy and mentor (I hope he doesn’t mind me calling him that! Muahaha) Pete Paquette here. Pete worked at Blue Sky for Robots – Rio, but has recently moved over 38 Studios to follow his love of games and gaming!

He just posted his showreel from Rio, and it’s pretty great.

Enjoy!

Go Get Your Copy of “Rio!”

Ok, so I’m almost a week behind in posting about the release of Blue Sky’s awesome hit Rio. I’m ashamed. Especially since my name is in the credits (allll the way at the end). I purchased my copy on release day, and boy was I lucky to grab one, because the store was almost sold out! According to this article from Variety, it’s flying (pun…not intended, but I’ll take it) off the shelves pretty much everywhere! Go Rio!

Spielberg, “Spider-Man,” “Tintin,” “The Walking Dead” and “Avengers” at Comic-Con

I am sadly not at Comic-Con but I have been following all of the news! Here are some interesting tidbits…

Steven Spielberg, Peter Jackson, and Andy Serkis discussed Tintin in Hall H. At the end of the panel, Spielberg welcomed a lifelong fan up on stage.

Spielberg announces that Jurassic Park 4 is in the works and will hopefully be made “in the next two to three years.” Let’s hope it’s more Jurassic Park and less Jurassic Park III.

The cast and director of The Amazing Spider-Man discuss the reboot (and Dr. Lizard) with Entertainment Weekly.

Marvel Studios released four character posters for next summer’s The Avengers. Check out the designs for Captain America, Iron Man, Black Widow, and Hawkeye here.

And finally, the preview for the new season of AMC’s The Walking Dead is here! Season 2 starts on October 16. The series has been filming in my hometown of Atlanta, GA. I haven’t yet seen any zombies for myself, but I’ll occasionally come upon a roadblock for filming. Can’t wait!

Weekend Catch-Up! “Dark Knight Rises,” “Toy Story 4,” “Arthur Christmas,” and a New Blog to Follow!

I’ve been out of the loop for the past few days, visiting my childhood home in the Land of the Slow Interwebs, so I haven’t been updating the old bloggy blog. Instead of spamming you with a barrage of posts, I’ll just sum up in one smorgasbord!

First, I’m ashamed to say that I haven’t yet seen the final installment of Harry Potter! I know, I know. I really want to go, but I don’t want a showing slammed with teeny-boppers, and I don’t want to have to get to the theater an hour early to avoid a neck-craning seat in the front row by the fire exit. Been there, done that. Anywho, congrats to Harry Potter, as the eighth and final film has been crushing the box office.

Even though HP7.2 has usurped the box office record(s) previously held by The Dark Knight, the teaser for the final film in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy has been released with Hallows, Part 2. Watch it here. Read some theories about it here. ONE YEAR. We have a whole year to wait for this one. Look out, Potter.

John Lasseter can be seen here squirming over the possible confirmation of an in-the-works Toy Story 4, which voice talent Tom Hanks alluded to in a recent interview. Though Lasseter claims he can’t comment on the possibility of a fourth installment in the beloved and ground-breaking Toy Story series, all he says is, “We haven’t announced anything.” Hmmm…

For Aardman fans, Sony Pictures’ Arthur Christmas will hit theaters this holiday season. Congrats to all of my Animation Mentor peers who have been hard at work on the film! Check out the trailer here.

Finally, for those of you who love finding new blogs to follow, here’s one for the list: Anim Dailies. Started by 5 animators (Alfonso Sicilia, Brad Silby, Stuart Ellis, Nathan McConnel, and Andrea Castagnoli), Anim Dailies is an attempt to recreate the feeling of “dailies,” in a real production environment. These animators hope to offer feedback on visitors’ personal animation. Check it out and submit your work for feedback!

Whew! Caught up.
